Recap of the 2024 Summer Season

What a wonderful season it was! Fishing in both the private and public lakes was spectacular this season. Large fish, and plenty of them! As usual there every angler had their favorite lures and flies that consistently got the job done - for fishing tips, stop by the Summit Real Estate office on 64 Main St. and ask for Fred or Chris. We are now looking forward to the ice fishing season, and are excited to be sponsoring the 3rd Annual Ice Fishing Competition on Dowdy Lake. Due to the growing popularity of this competition, we will be in search of Title level sponsors like Scheels, Jax, Bass Pro Shop, and more! Prizes should take a big leap in both quantity and quality this coming year. Stay tuned for dates! 

Camping was also quite popular this year because of the heat down in the valley. The dry conditions had us a little nervous, but everyone remembered Smokey the Bear saying “Only you can prevent forest fires!” and everyone did their part. A special shoutout to our first responders getting a quick handle on any small fires that did break out. 

As you all know, Beaver Meadows was sold by the Weixelman Family and has new owners. The new owners are committed to the Red Feather area, and have infused money into upgrades and new fun activities for the public to enjoy. The restaurant expanded its hours and serves top-notch beverages and food!

The Pot Belly Restaurant, the longest standing dine-in establishment in Red Feather Lakes is located off CR 74E, just past the 67J turn off. They offer dining room seating or bar seating, serving a well-rounded menu with burgers, sandwiches, burritos, steak, and more! Open Thursday-Sunday in the winter. 

The Tavern at Red Feather Lakes is a cozy little tavern located off Ramona Lake in the village. They offer pizzas, panini’s, baked pastas and salads, and they also have a full bar. They play music on the weekends, and host fun events for the community throughout the year. Rich and Kerrie continue to come up with new ideas and events for all ages throughout the season, please go check out their website! Rigby’s Roadhouse is a new restaurant on the mountain, located in Glacier View Meadows at Gate 1. They have had a great start to their first season bringing new food items and hours of operation for the Red Feather and Glacier View Community!

The Main Street Deli, located in the Trading Post in Red Feather Village. The deli is serving fresh sub sandwiches if you need a quick bite to eat! Open Daily.

Village Taco is another new food vendor that graced us with their presence over the Summer, bringing us delicious mexican food and tacos. They are set to team up with ZydeCO’ Boys this winter to cook Chinese take out on Thursdays! Follow them on Nextdoor for recent events and menu items. 

ZydeCO’ Boys has had a great summer season as well and will continue to serve the community throughout the winter. They have teamed up with Village Taco for the winter season to bring the community Takeout Thursdays, alternating between Chinese cuisine and Cajun favorites every Thursday. COMING SOON! 
The Thirsty Moose is on its way! Blaise and Samantha have been working hard with Larimer County and their engineers to get the new restaurant and bar up and running as soon as possible. They have dug for foundation and are eagerly waiting on building permits to be issued, in the hopes of a late winter opening. Check Nextdoor for more updates to come soon. 

Molly The Shagwa Goose
If you were eagerly awaiting an update on Molly, we are happy to announce that she is still on Shagwa Lake. She was so happy to reunite with her family this Spring and Summer, and has made many friends among the duck and crow population. If you happen to drive-by Shagwa Lake, look out and see if you can spot our friend. We will continue to provide for her care throughout the winter, in the hopes that she will be able to reunite with her family once again in the Spring.
